Careers and employability
Our students are taught the skills and attitudes required to enable them to become as independent as they can be and to prepare for adulthood.
Our students have an enriched and stimulating curriculum that gives them every opportunity to reach their full potential regardless of their gender, race, learning disability or physical disability.
Our commitment to careers education, information, advice and guidance
Careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) is at our forefront, ensuring students leave with the right tools and values to help prepare them for adulthood. We support them to consider their future options, realise their potential and decide how their skills and experiences fit with opportunities in the job market.
We prepare students for their preferred transitional pathway, whether that is to continue with further education, employment, training or living independently and we use a person-centred approach in our delivery method. We are fully committed to our statutory and moral obligation to provide a holistic careers service, highlighting the vocational and academic routes to their preferred careers path.
We work closely with the local authority due to the vulnerable nature of our students, who all have special educational needs or disabilities with Education, Health and Care Plans in place. We ensure that we know of all the services available to support students, how to access them, and then share this knowledge with our community.
We regularly evaluates our careers provision against the Gatsby Good Career Guidance Benchmarks and make improvements where appropriate. We work alongside Lancashire Enterprise Partnership – INSPIRA and New Direction to continuously seek ways to improve our practice and have also partnered with Promethean as our Business Enterprise Advisors.
