Students set up shop on Blackburn Market
25/04/2023
Students from Crosshill School's post 16 class set up shop on Blackburn Market selling a variety of handmade gifts and crafts.

The stall went down a treat with shoppers, with most of the gifts selling out. This is the second market stall the students have held at the market to help raise money for their Enterprise Fund. The fund was set up to allow the students to enjoy weekly activities within their local community. Crosshill’s post 16 class provides education and support to children between the age of 16-19 who have learning difficulties or disabilities.

Kelly Smith, Post 16 Teacher at Crosshill School, said: “The children did such a wonderful job making and selling all of the items for their stall and we are very grateful to all those who came and purchased and offered their support.

“Part of our role at Crosshill is to help equip the children with important life skills that they can take forward with them when they leave us. Their enterprise business is a prime example of how we encourage them to learn but also have fun at the same time. They then get to enjoy the fruits of their labour by using the enterprise fund to pay for weekly activities within their local community. I’m incredibly proud of them.”

Following the success of the stall, the class is now busy planning another stall later in the year.
